Battery in the Cubes

by Ales Spetic

CubeSensors are battery powered devices. Current setup allows them to measure and stream data for several weeks, up to two months. The battery is rechargable by a standard micro USB cable – with a charger, a computer or the base station. The Cubes will tell you when their battery needs recharging, so you don’t have to worry they’ll run out of juice.

We designed the Cubes to be cordless devices that require no setup so you can put them in the middle of a conference table or in your living room. They give you the freedom to put them where indoor environment is most important to you.

However if you want to plug them in and keep them on forever, you can do so. The micro USB port used for charging them also acts as a power in. If you keep the Cubes plugged in they will act as mesh network nodes, relaying data from other Cubes to the base station.

CubeSensors wins the inaugural best hardware startup award at Launch 2013

by Ales Spetic

CubeSensors just won the Best Hardware Startup Award at the Launch Festival! This is a huge validation for our team. We spent more than a year working on the cubes and being recognized as the best is one of our dreams coming true.

We want the cubes to be in every room of homes and offices. People deserve to know what kind environment they live in. We should be able to understand what we can do about it and how it affects our lives.

We provide that with CubeSensors. We improve peoples lives. Thanks to Jason and his team for a great event. It’s been a roller coaster ride. And as from any roller coaster we come out smiling!

Launching CubeSensors

by Ales Spetic

Our environment significantly influences our productivity, well-being and health. We spend 90% of our lives indoors but know almost nothing about it. We know way more about the food we eat, number of steps we take or even the weather outside. That all changes today.

We’re announcing CubeSensors, the consumer friendly indoor monitoring solution.
CubeSensors are beautiful, small devices for indoor environment monitoring, connected to a cloud platform. They continuously stream data and log information about indoor temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, air quality, vibrations, light and noise. They require no configuration and are battery powered.

Users can access live information on the web or on mobile, get alerts and use recommendations to improve productivity and health. Each Cube is designed to monitor indoor living in a single room, but the real benefit is achieved when Cubes are grouped to monitor all rooms in a home or office from one dashboard. The system alerts users when environment in one of the rooms has deteriorated.

It’s the first time that managers in offices and homeowners get accurate and timely information about their indoor environment, complete with alert, recommendations and analysis.

CubeSensors are small 2 inch cubes that continuously measure and stream indoor data. Each cube has the following sensors:
– thermometer, to accurately measure temperature
– barometer, to detect fluctuations in barometric pressure
– noise detection, to measure noise and it’s impact
– light meter, for illumination
– volatile organic compounds sensor, to measure indoor air pollution
– moisture sensors, for humidity detection
– accelerometer, for detection vibrations and cubes movement

Cubes are battery operated and communicate wirelessly.

With cubes we provide the first all-in-one solution that will bring understanding of indoor environment to everyone’s smart phone. We improve indoor living!

We’re starting to take reservations for the cubes sets today for a small reservation payment of $10. The final price, paid before shipping for a set of 2 cubes with base station is $249 and $349 for set of 4 cubes with base station.
