Molds start growing when relative humidity is above 55% for at least a day or two. Good ventilation, regular vacuuming with a HEPA filter, and watching out for organic materials that molds love can all help prevent problems. You can use a dehumidifier, A/C on dry mode, and even rock salt to lower humidity.

Raising humidity to around 45% will make it more difficult for cold and flu viruses to spread around. If you already have a cold, you can also use a humidifier to relieve your stuffy nose and itchy throat. Just make sure to regularly clean your humidifier according to instructions.
